Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Should I ship my car open or enclosed?

Over 90% of all vehicle are transported on a open trailer. It’s proven to be a very safe method with statistically very few problems. If you have a collector car or really expensive automobile, then we recommend shipping it in an Enclosed Trailer. Expect to pay about 30% more for an Enclosed transport.

2. When can you pick up my vehicle?

We usually need a 1-3 day window for picking up vehicles. It all depends on where your vehicle is located. During the winter season there may be some delays, it all depends on location.

3. Can I put personal belongings inside my vehicle?

We do not recommend putting stuff inside the vehicle. As a courtesy, you may be able to put up to 100 lbs. in trunk. Please make sure it is discreet and not visible from outside. If you exceed the weight limit and fully load the vehicle, the drivers can charge you extra. Some drivers will accept a tip ($50-$250) for hauling extra stuff, but some won’t.

4. How long will it take to transport my vehicle?

Truck drivers can drive about 500 miles a day, give or take. For Example:

100-500 miles takes 1 to 2 days
500-1000 miles takes 2 to 3 days
1000-1500 miles takes 3 to 5 days
1500-2000 miles takes 4 to 7 days
2000-2500 miles takes 5 to 8 days
2500-3000 miles takes 7 to 10days.

5. Is my vehicle insured?

Yes, all of the trucks that we use have full coverage cargo insurance. We only work with transporters who have a clean driving record and all of there documents are up to date.

6. What happens if my vehicle is damaged during transport?

If you find damage…

  1. Take a photo of the damage, ideally from an angle similar to a photo taken prior to shipping your vehicle.

  2. Along with the transporter, document the damage in the Bill of Lading. Most forms will have a detailed diagram so the part of the car damaged during shipping can be noted accurately.

  3. Notify the shipping coordinator of the damages, if they aren’t available at the time please email us all the details along with documents and pictures.

  4. Visit your mechanic to obtain an estimate for repairing the damages. Get a written or email copy to provide to the shipping company.

  5. Contact your insurance company and Provide photos and repair estimate. They will need both to submit to the transporters insurance company to secure payment for the repairs. If you require a rental vehicle in the meantime due to significant damage, keep all receipts.

Hint: Upon arrival, inspect your vehicle thoroughly. When your car arrives at the final destination, check for any damage with a shipping company representative to see if you notice anything that indicates there has been damaged since the pre-shipping inspection. Be sure to look at the roof and undercarriage. After you sign the Bill of Lading stating that your car is received, your mover will prepare a statement of the vehicle’s condition for you both to sign. Read it carefully and be sure you know what you’re signing. If you disagree with any of the statements or details, ask for a correction.

7. How does payment work?

We do not charge anything until we pick up your vehicle. After your vehicle is picked up we will be charging a small deposit on a debit or credit card on file. The remaining balance is due at delivery to the driver. They only accept certified funds such as cash, money order or cashiers check made payable to the driver. Now days, there are electronic certified funds available (Venmo, Zelle, CashApp). Please speak to the driver regarding the best way to pay at delivery.

8. Will you pick up my vehicle directly from my home?

We provide door to door service, as long as there is access for the carrier. If there is no access, we will meet you at a safe location accessible to large trucks.
